Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise the efficiency of preliminary dehydration without destroying coagulated sludge body by a process in which a coagulant is added to sludge to form a coagulated sludge body in a flocculent state and then the coagulated sludge body is dehydrated by means of a bar screen to separate and remove free water.
CONSTITUTION: The coagulant 4 is added to sludge from the supply port 3 and then the sludge is sent to the mixer 1 where the sludge is mixed with a stirrer 5 to form a coagulated sludge body. Then, the coagulated sludge body is flowed through the overflow port 8 into the trapping chamber 9, flowed down in a film state through the sieve 10 of the bar screen B, and then flowed into the sludge treating apparatus 21 of the belt press filter C. In this case, without destroying the coagulated sludge body, free water present in the apertures of the coagulated body flows by gravity out of the screen mesh, stored in the pan 12, and then discharged from the outlet 13. Then, the preliminarily dehydrated sludge is thrown into the sludge feeder 20 by the supplier 21, received on the lower filtering cloth 15, and dehydrated by gravity.
