Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a satisfactory, blending effect of a pulverous and particulate material by a method wherein a pulverous and particulate material is added to a downflow stream of a molten substance with an introducing pipe of which a lower end is immersed under a liquid surface of said molten substance and a cross sectional area of the flow passage is reduced between a meeting position and a lower end of the introducting pipe to form a blended stream not involving a gas at the lower end of said introducing pipe. CONSTITUTION:Especially, in case of carrying out the desulfurization or the like of molten iron or the like, a downward introducing pipe 2 of a pulverous and particulate material is inserted into the downward introducing pipe 1 of a molten substance of a blending apparatus 4 and the lower end thereof is fixed at a position not reaching to the lower end of the pipe 1. To the pipe 2, a contracted portion 1a of a flow passage at a position lower than the lower end of the pipe 2 and the cross sectional area thereof is regulated in such a manner that the molten substance and the pulverous and particulate material are not inhibited from dropping and the mixing of air with the pulverous and particulate material can be ensuredly rejected. If the molten substance is dropped from a pouring port 1' of this pipe 1 and a lower end of the pipe 1 is immersed in the molten substance in a tank 3, the pulverous and particulate material is fallen from the pipe 2. This is combined with the molten substance along with air, but, because the molten substance stream is combined at a contracted portion 1a to push back gas upwardly, only pulverous and particulate material is involved and flowed into the tank to be diffused entirely.
