Abstract

A spouted bed blender for mixing two powders has a first shear producing device including a draft tube positioned vertically in a container for the powder bed. A gas stream transports powder through the tube from the bottom to the top of the bed. A diverter directs the gas and powder stream onto the top of the bed. A second device increases the speed of some of the powder in the tube in a different flow direction. This breaks up any powder agglomerates formed within the tube.
