Abstract

A method for producing metals or alloys, in particular ferro-alloys, includes reducing of metal oxides of fraction of 6— 50 mm in the reducing zone, which is formed by the coal layer, located above the fluid melt of metal and slag, and injection of reducing gas through this coal layer. With the purpose of development of processing capabilities, lump oxide material is supplied from above into the reducing zone, consisting of three coal layers (A, B, C). The bottom layer (A), covering liquid melt of metal and slag, consists of gas-free coal. Oxygen or oxygen-containing gas is injected into the middle layer (B), and hot mixture from particles of coal and oxygen or oxygen-containing gas is injected into the upper layer (C).
