Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform sufficient desulfurization without using any desulfurizing agent by providing a means of mixing molten iron and molten slag in a spout member from the iron notch of a blast furnace to a molten iron receiving vessel. CONSTITUTION:This utilizes the ability of desulfurizing molten iron that the molten slag discharged from a blast furnace 1 possesses in a high temp, state, wherein plural stirrers 7 consisting of, for example, rotating vanes, are disposed between the molten iron dropping position of a tapping spout 3 and a molten slag outflow port 5. The molten metal ejecting from the iron notch 2 of the furnace body 1 drops first onto the molten slag 6 in the spout 3, and while it is mingling with the molten slag 6, it flows next in the lower part of the molten slag 6 in the spout 3 and flows into the molten iron spout via a skimmer 4. At this time, sufficient desulfurization is accomplished simply by mixing and stirring the molten iron and the molten slag mechanically with the stirrers 7 provided between the molten iron dropping position and the outflow port 5.
