PURPOSE: To make fragments of a glass plate small at the time of cracking by supplementally heating the plate with a plurality of auxiliary heating elements arranged close to both sides of the plate in heating of the plate between heaters.
CONSTITUTION: When glass plate 3 is suspended by suspender 4 and heated with principal heating elements 6 set in heating furnace wall 5, a plurality of auxiliary heating elements such as electric heating wires consisting of horizontal heating elements 1a, 1b... and vertical heating elements 2a, 2b... are arranged close to (10W100mm) both sides of plate 3 at intervals of about 20W50mm in parallel with plate 3.
