Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize the minaturization of the optical exchanger as well as the wide- band performance of the optical fiber, by securing the sharing of the photodetector for many subscribers and then detecting both the start and finish calls of the subscriber based on the state of the optical signal. CONSTITUTION:When subscriber 1 picks up the telephone receiver, the optical signal is transmitted to enter optical exchanger 2 via optical fiber cable 3. And part of the signal is extracted through optical branching circuit 11 in exchanger 2 and then supplied to photo-detecting circuit 13 through optical fiber 12. In circuit 13 fiber 12 is scanned in sequence by one unit of the photodetector to convert the optical signal into the electric signal. This electric signal is stored in the memory circuits provided each in correspondence to each of fibers 12 and via the change- over switch which operates in synchronization with the photodetector. The information of the memory circuit corresponds to both the start and finish calls of the subscriber. In this connection, the control is given to channel connecting optical switch 9 with actuation of connection control circuit 10. Thus the connection is secured.
