Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize a miniature channel connecting optical switch which excels in the economical performance, by incorporating the photodetector which can be shared by several subscribers into the optical switch. CONSTITUTION:The calling optical signal is transmitted when a certain subscriber picks up the telephone receiver and then sent to channel connecting optical switch 2 through fiber cable 3. And this optical signal is supplied to photodetector 8 via call detecting mirror 7 since full-mirror 5 is hanged at the lower part. Detector 8 converts the optical signal into the electric signal to then supply it to call detecting mirror control circuit 9. Thus circuit 9 stops mirror 7 and at the same time gives the control to switch 2 to raise up necessary mirror 5. Thus the connection is secured between the X and Y rows. And when this connection is over, the optical signal is cut to mirror 7 since the optical switch features the full-mirror. As a result, circuit 9 drives mirror 7 again to start searching, and then has expectation to the call to be given from another subscriber.
