Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the reliability for an optical transmission system as a whole, by securing an independent duplication at each part as much as possible for the redundant constitution. CONSTITUTION:The signal to be transmitted is put into the input terminal 1 and then branched, and thus the same signal is sent to the duplicated optical transmission parts 1a and 1b. The optical outputs sent from the parts 1a and 1b are transmitted to the optical coupler 5 through the fibers 4a and 4b to be branched and compounded. Then the same optical signal is sent to the optical fibers 3a and 3b each. At the reception side, the optical signal is branched and compounded again by the optical coupler 6 and then put into the optical reception part via the optical fibers 7a and 7b. The signals reproduced into the electric signals through the optical reception parts 8a and 8b are sent out through the change-over switch SW.
