Abstract
PURPOSE:To form a surface alloy layer made of Au(Ag)-Ni alloy on the surface of Ni-Cr alloy material so as to manufacture material for eye glass frame excellent in decorative effect, by plating the surface of Ni-Cr alloy material with one or both of Au and Ag, then by heat treatment of te plated alloy material. CONSTITUTION:Ni-Cr alloy material is plated with Au and/or Ag and is heated at a temp. 200-900 deg.C, preferably at 400-700 deg.C, in a nonoxidizing atmosphere such as reducing gas or in vacuum. Hereby a surfacial alloy layer of Au(Ag)-Ni type or Au-Ag-Ni type is formed. This alloy layer has suitable surfacial color and luster excellent in decorative effect which causes no resistance to the user because the alloy layer shows no direct or strong color or no luster of Au or Ag. The product has corrosion resistance, nonmagnetic property, and spring property.
