Abstract
PURPOSE:To raise the storability of cell by combining hydroxyl groups on the surface of a metal oxide active material in the positive pole of an organic electrolyte cell with one of BF4<->, AsF6<->, and AlCl4<-> in a chelate-bonding manner. CONSTITUTION:A small amount of hydroxyl groups present on the surface of a metal oxide as an active material for the positive pole 5 in an organic electrolyte cell using the lithium sheet 4 as a negative side active material are combined with BF4<->, AsF6<->, or AlCl4<-> in a chelate-bonding manner. The preferred metal oxide used includes MnO2, MoO3, V2O5, Co3O4, CuO2, etc. The formation of chelate- bonds is attained by treating the said metal oxide with a solution of a salt of an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal with one of the said anions in a solvent, e.g., propylene carbonate, etc.
