Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a high efficiency lamp which can be lighted up easily with rapid start system by enclosing the rare gas which contains a specific amount of Kr, and Ne and Ar as the rest and has the amount of Ar less than a specific amount of Ne, under a specific pressure in the bulb, and lowering the starting voltage. CONSTITUTION:Into the bulb of a fluorescent lamp, the mixed rare gas which contains 55-75% by volume of Kr, and Ne and Ar as the rest, and which has the ratio of Ar not more than 3% of Ne is enclosed as starting gas under the pressure of 1.5-2.5mm.Hg. When the ratio of Kr in this enclosed gas exceeds 75%, the bulb current increases, and the optical output of the lamp decreases. If the ratio of Ne increases, the bulb current becomes insufficient, and the life of the lamp is shortened. When the ratio of Ar increases, starting becomes easy, but the aim of high efficiency cannot be achieved. By keeping the ratio at a level described above, a high efficiency fluorescent lamp, which has high lamp efficiency and can be easily lit up even with rapid start system, can be obtained.
