Abstract

PURPOSE:To save the power by encapsulating specific ratio of rare gases having the atomic weight higher and lower than that of Ar and the remainder of Ar as the starting gas in a linear fluorescent lamp bulb having specific range of outer-diameter under specific pressure. CONSTITUTION:The gas mixed with 5vol% of rare gas having the aromic weight higher than that of Ar such as krypton, 5vol% of rare gas having the atomic weight lower than that of Ar such as neon and the remainder of Ar is encapsulated as the starting gas into a linear fluorescent lamp bulb 1 having the outer-diameter in the range of 27-31mm. under the encapsulation pressure of 1.5-2.5mm.Hg. When satisfying these requirements, the input power including the loss of ballast can be reduced considerably while utilizing the ballast of conventional standard as it is while at the same time the starting characteristic under low temperature, light output and the service life can be maintained to be same with conventional one.
