Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for cooling 45°-inclined window and further enable the superposition of a visible beam on the laser beam without causing any surface reflection by providing an opening for allowing the passage of the laser beam to the 45°-inclined window.
CONSTITUTION: A CO2 laser beam 1 passes the central opening part of a 45°-reflecting mirror 8 and is condensed at a focal position 7 by a parabolic mirror 6. The He-Ne laser beam 2 having visible light for being superposed on the same axis of the laser beam 1 goes through a torus-form beam expander 9 and becomes the beam 10 of torus form in the section A-A shape. This is radiated to the reflecting mirror 8 at an incident angle 45°, is completely reflected on the reflecting surface at the circumference of the opening on the back side of the reflecting mirror 8 and is superposed on the same axis as the laser beam 1. It is condensed at the focal position by the parabolic mirror 6 in the same manner as with the laser beam 1.
