Abstract
PURPOSE: The electric discharge covering apparatus which is so arranged that the repeatedly laminated covering layers may be readily thickly formed by letting polishing action be simultaneously effected on the surface to be covered through ultrasonic friction during covering by causing ultrasonic vibrations of a covering material electrode.
CONSTITUTION: As a horn 21 vibrates in the axial direction, a sliding member 23 and an electrode 1 make oscillating motion like the dotted lines and the end of the electrode 1 performs vibrations of contacting sliding and rubbing the surface of the work 3 and detaching therefrom. The electrode 1 repeatedly performs the vibrations of contact, friction and detaching by ultrasonic waves, thereby simultaneously performing electric discharge and friction polishing the high frequency pulse trains of an oscillator 10 are cut and controlled by low frequency oscillator 11 of 100 to 10KHz. The electric discharge is accomplished by the high frequency pulse trains produced by an oscillator 10. In these pulse trains, unit pulses of about 1 to 500μs in pulse width and quiescent width are repeated and electric discharge is accomplished by these unit pulse trains between the electrode 1 and work 3 and these are repeated, whereby the covering is accomplished.
