Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an ultrasonic cleaner, in which its cleaning tank is shaped in a cylindrical form and a vibtation generating means is fixed to a peripheral portion of said cylindrical cleaning tank, whereby it is enabled to concentrate ultrasonic energy at an article to be cleaned and thus to clean the article efficiently in a short while.
CONSTITUTION: Cleaning tank 1 is shaped in a cylindrical form and cleaning liquid (a) such as water or solvent is filled in the tank 1. High-frequency electric energy is generated by oscillator 2 and transmitted to a vibration generating means 4 via cord 3. The vibration generating means 4 is fixed to a peripheral portion 5 of cleaning tank 1 by way of adhesion or soldering, so as to convert the high-frequency electric energy to mechanical vibrational energy. Here, radius R of the cleaning tank 1 is determined suitably from the wave length of the ultrasonic wave, sound velocity in the cleaning tank 1 and vibration frequency of the means 4, such that means 4 is vibrated in its resonant condition with maximum amplitude and vibration thus caused is transmitted radially from the entire periphery of cleaning tank 1. That is, ultrasonic energy is concentrated on the article (b) to be cleaned so that it can be cleaned effectively in the tank 1.
