Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an ultrasonic cleaner, in which a reflector is disposed at a position located in the path of ultrasonic waves to change the direction of ultrasonic waves, whereby it is enabled to clean also the side surface of an article to be cleaned without taking out the article from the cleaning tank.
CONSTITUTION: A vibrator 5 made of ferrite or the like is fixed to the bottom 4 of cleaning tank 2. The vibrator 5 is vibrated with excitation of coil 6 and ultrasonic waves (a) are generated from oscillator 3. A reflector 7 is disposed at a position in the path P of ultrasonic waves (a). Here, if the reflector 7 is provided with a concave surface, concentrated cleaning can be carried out, whereas, if it is provided with a convex surface, dispersed cleaning can be carried out. Angle θ of the reflector 7 can be changed through adjustment of screws 11 on the fastening board 10. Ultrasonic waves (a) radiated from radiation surface 15 of vibrator 5 are transmitted as expansion waves having nodes (d) and widest parts (c). Cavitation is caused by the widest parts (c) of the ultrasonic waves, and cleaning can be accomplished by the energy of cavitation.
