Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the inexpensive photo switch by simple construction by inserting a shutter between the synthesizing part of the light beam from the 1st and 2nd light input terminals and both light input parts thereof. CONSTITUTION:The optical path is constituted by coupling the 1st and 2nd light input terminals 1, 2 to a light output terminal 3 by means of optical fibers 31a, 31b, 32a, 32b, 33. The optical fibers 31b, 32b and 33 are integrated at their intermediate to form a light synthesizing part 34. In addition, a shutter 35 is inserted between the 1st and 2nd light input terminals 1, 2 and light synthesizing part 34. The shutter 35 made by non-light transmittable material assumes a chevron shape and so designed as to turn about the axis 36. In the state of the solid line, it assumes the 1st stable state that the optical path 9 is perfectly connected and the optical path 10 is shut off. In the state of the dotted line, it assuems the 2nd stable state being opposite therefrom and in the state of the chain line, it assumes the 3rd stable state that both optical paths 9, 10 are perfectly coupled. In this way, the inexpensive photo switch of the simple construction may be obtained.
