Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the switch having explosionproofness and water tightness with simple construction by providing a gap at the intermediate of the optical fibers provided with a light emitting part at one end and a photodetecting part at the other end and changing the path of light of the gap by the end part of a pushbutton. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting part 2 and a photodetecting part 3 are provided to optical fiber cables 1, 1'. A pushbutton 6 is mounted to the gap 5 at the end part of the opposing cables 1, 1' and its plate-form end part 6a is movable into or out from the gap 5. By cutting off the flow of light by this end part 6a, the circuit may be put to a cutoff state. This constitution makes the construction as a switch simple, permits the reduction of cost and enables the same to be used as a switch for places where water tightness and explosionproofness are required because it has no electric and electronic circuits at all.
