Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled high-tensile cast steel for a marine structure used in a low temp. sea area by composing cast steel of a specified amount each of C, Si, Ni, Mn, Nb, Ti, Cr, Al and rare earth metals such as La and Ce, and the balance Fe.
CONSTITUTION: The titled high-tensile cast steel is composed of C 0.05W0.15%, Si 0.05W0.5%, Ni 0.05W0.5%, Mn 1W1.7%. Nb 0.01W0.05%, Ti 0.005W0.03%, Cr 0.05W0.3%, Al 0.01W0.06%, one or more kinds of rare earth metals such as La and Ce 0.005W0.03%, and the balance Fe. This steel has improved toughness at its weld bond zone and its weld heat-affected zone as well as its base metal unlike conventional steel.
