Abstract
PURPOSE:To make constant normalizing possible in manufacture of directional electrical steel sheet, by working a slab, carbon content of which is lowered extremely at the melting step and which has been hot rolled, to a final sheet thickness by one or two passes of cold rolling, by heating the steel sheet in order to oxidize its surface, then by annealing it with separating agent applied to it. CONSTITUTION:In manufacture of directional electrical steel sheet, the steel is decarburized to 0.0010-0.010% C during melting step with the decarburization annealing process of the cold rolled sheet omitted. The slab of very low carbon content is hot rolled to a steel sheet about 2.4mm. in thickness, and the hot rolled sheet is annealed at 900 deg.C in nitrogen atmosphere. Then the sheet is made into a steel sheet of final thickness by one or two passes of cold rolling, and its surface is oxidized by heating at a temp. not lower than 200 deg.C so as to improve the wettability with annealing separating agent. The steel sheet is cooled and is applied with annealing separating agent contg. MgO as a principal component, then it is subjected to the secondary recrystallization and normalizing, hereby directional electrical steel sheet is manufactured constantly.
