Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a large amount of magnetic oxide particles at low cost by a procedure in which a coprecipitation reaction of a metal salt sulution containing Pd, Fe, etc., as the main components and a specific strong organic alkali is made, and then an oxidative gas is injected into the liquid phase containing coprecipitate formed.
CONSTITUTION: A solution (A) containing Fe and one or more of Pb, Ba and Sr as the main components is mixed with a solution (B) containing NH3 and tetraalkyl-ammonium hydroxide as a strong organic alkali of the formula MexEt(4-x) NOH (where Me is methyl group, Et is ethyl group, and x is 0W4) to form precipitate. Then, a gas containing oxygen is passed through the liquid phase containing the precipitate to form magnetic oxide particles. Thus, a high purity magnetic oxide particles having uniform grain size distribution and uniform iron distribution, which are perculiar to the air oxidation method, can be obtained.
