Abstract

PURPOSE: To protect a turbine by a method wherein the pressure of each stage or the difference in each stage of a turbine is detected so that an alarm signal and a trip signal are produced before the occurrences of the excessive amount of flowing steam and the excessive difference in the pressure of each stage which causes excessive stress to the moving blade and stationary blade of the turbine.
CONSTITUTION: The faulty operation of a high pressure bypass valve 6 is detected by a pressure detecting device 21 which detects the amount of steam flowing to an intermediate pressure turbine, in other words, staged inlet pressure of the turbine; and the detected results are sent to a control circuit 300. The occurrence of excessive stress being generates at the moving blade and stationary blade of the intermediate pressure/low pressure turbine 8 can be prevented previously by utilizing the detected results as an alarm and trip signals X, Y, Z for protecting the turbine, or a signal W for opening the low pressure bypass valve 12 for reducing the amount of steam flowing to the intermediate pressure/low pressure turbine 8.
