Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate degassing time and pouring latency time and obtain the casting of high quality at low cost by pouring molten metal into the other holding furnace and performing degassing during pouring in one holding furnace and moving the furnace to the pouring position and degassing position then to the pouring position upon ending of pouring.
CONSTITUTION: After molten metal is poured to one of two holding furnaces 3 from a ladle 15 at both side ends of a track 2, the ladle 15 is moved to the opposite side of the track and is positioned to the pouring position of the other holding furnace. Next, a vacuum degassing device 20 is moved to above the holding furnace and the cover 15 for degassing is placed on the top surface of a crucible. The vacuum pump is then driven to feed inert gas 21 into the molten metal and cause bubbling. Upon ending of the degassing, the furnace 3 is moved to right under the stalk 11 (pouring position). At this time, the pouring of the another furnace 3 is completed and it is moved from the pouring position to the injecting position by a holding furnace horizontal driving cylinder 6. The furnace 3 reached the pouring position is lifted by a vertical drive unit 13 and the stalk 11 is dipped in the molten metal in the crucible. The crucible is then closed by a closing plate 10 and low- pressure casting is started.
