Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a phenol-modified melamine resin with good thickning stability during time elapse and washability obtained by blending an urea resin precondensate having a specific mole ratio of formaldehyde and urea to a phenol-modified melamine resin.
CONSTITUTION: To (A) a phenol-modified melamine resin, (B) an urea resin precondensate of which a mole ratio of formaldehyde and urea is 1.1W1.6 is blended to prepare a phenol-modified melamine resin with improved stability.
EFFECT: If this phenol-modified melamine resin is stored for two weeks or more at a high temp. of about 40°C during summer, the viscosity of a compounded size compounded with wheat flour, water and a curing agent is slightly increased and said size is easily transported. Further the control of a compounded size amount to be coated to a veneer is easy and the washing is also carried out easily.
