Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an elastic grindstone of excellent resistance to humidity and water, by using as a binder a resin which is produced by causing a saponification or denatured saponification of a copolymer comprising ethylene and vinyl acetate at a prescribed ratio, to react with an aliphatic or aromatic aldehyde.
CONSTITUTION: A saponification or denatured saponification of a copolymer comprising ethylene and vinyl acetate is caused to react with an aliphatic or aromatic aldehyde such as formaldehyde to produce white amorphous powder which has high adhesive power to abrasive grains. The powder, the abrasive grains and a foaming agent are mixed together. The mixture is shaped by a press to manufacture an elastic porous grindstone.
