Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover or remove uranium in a high yield by a method wherein a desorbing solution for uranium containing carbonate is subjected to the heating and boiling treatment and calcium ion is added to precipitate uranium within the solution.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous carbonate solution such as an uranium containing ammonium carbonate desorbing solution is heated and boiled to remove CO2. Subsequently, calcium ion such as calcium hydroxide, calcium chloride is added in an amount of 2W3g/l as Ca2+ to precipitate about 97% of uranium within a solution. In this case, pH of the solution is regulated to 7 or more, pref. about 9. The precipitated uranium is collected by filtering.
