Abstract

PURPOSE: To convert energy possessed by waves into electric energy efficiently, by providing a cylindrical member fixed substantially with respect to a float, converting vertical movement of waves into reciprocating movement of piston by the aid of said float, and thereby causing rotation of oil motor through circulation of oil.
CONSTITUTION: When wave motion is caused in the state that float 1 is floated on the sea surface and cylindrical member 3 is positioned vertically in the sea by use of balancer 4 and balance anchors 5 in the manner that its top is projected slightly above the upper surface of float 1, float 1 is caused to move vertically. Resultantly, piston 8 is moved reciprocatingly in cylinder 7 and oil is introduced into or drawn out of pipe 16 or 17 via ports formed in piston rod 9. For instance, when oil flows into pipe 16 with upward movement of piston 8, oil is passed through valve 18 and introduced into accmulator 13. In pipe 17, on the other hand, oil flows in the direction toward cylinder 7, so that oil is drawn out of vacuum tank 12. Then, oil in accumulator 13 is returned to tank 12 after rotating oil motor 15 and generator 14.
