Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an economical power generating method capable of facilitating construction, operation and maintenance of the power plant, by transmitting energy possessed by a float moved by the sea waves to an energy converting means via points fixed to the bottom of the sea.
CONSTITUTION: Energy possessed by a float 2 moved up and down by the force of the sea waves is transmitted via rope 3 connected to the float 2 and pulleys 6 fixed to the bottom of the sea to an energy converting means 8 and a weight 7 fixed to the end of the rope 3. Along with vertical movement of the sea surface, float 2 pulls and loosens the rope 3, so that a piston type hydraulic pump 9 constituting a portion of the energy converting means 8 repeats reciprocal movements via rope 3 by the buoyancy acted to the float 2 and the gravity of the weight 7. Oil thus pressurized by the hydraulic pump 9 is supplied to a hydraulic turbine 10 and drives a generator 11.
