Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a simple and light device of compact sized slide-rule with a high reliability employing a nonmagnetic material for the base whose surface is coated with a magnetic paint, and a resin coat is applied on the surface of the paint for protection.
CONSTITUTION: This invention relates to a method in which the position of the sliding scale is allowed to be determined by delivering and rewinding it from the drum in the device employing a magnetic detector. The linear nonmagnetic base 2 of the scale is coated on the circumference with a magnetic ink 3 at a fixed space to make a magnetic gradiation and a resin coat 4 is applied on the surface of the ink 3 to prevent the exforiation of the ink 3 while making the sliding smooth during the winding. Guided with a guide section 5, the scale 1 is wound with a drum 6. The magnetic detector 7 is mounted 0.5mm separated from the sliding position of the scale 1, and generates pulses every pitch each time the magnetic ink 3 passes slinding. The pulses are counted to indicate the movement of the scale on the display 8. Thus, the stable result can be obtained because the detection output is independent of the movement speed of the scale 1.
