Abstract
PURPOSE:To measure a coil diameter accurately with a simple and economical composition by a method wherein a computing function by which the detected value of the movement of the material which is paid off from or taken up to the coil is computed is added. CONSTITUTION:The length of the movement for a unit time of the material which is successively paid off from or taken up to a coil 1 is detected by movement value detector 3 and is integrated by a measuring equipment 4. The data of the length and the set values from a material thickness setting equipment 6 and a material space factor setting equipment 7 are transferred to a computing equipment 8 and a coil diameter is calculated. An equipment such as a rotating detector is not necessary and the miscalculation is not occurred even in case of an unforseen incident, so that the coil diameter is measured accurately with a simple composition.
