Abstract

PURPOSE: To permit easy working of tubular bodies and improve heat exchangeability by engraving plural lengths of grooves in the inside wall surface of the tubular bodies for heat exchangers simultaneously with their expanding.
CONSTITUTION: A tubular body 1 for heat exchanging is passed through the inside of the holes 8 formed in multiple fins 2 of flat plate form. A plug 4 of a diameter slightly larger than the inside diameter of the steel pipe 1 is force-fitted into the pipe 1. The plug 4 is convergent and the portion near the maximum diameter assumres a curved surface, on the outside circumferential part whereof are formed multiple protruding flights 5. There is a through-hole 6 along the central axial line and a shaft 7 is inserted into this hole. This shaft 7 is rotatable by way of a nut 9 and bearing 8. As a result of this, if the plug 4 is press-fitted into the pipe, the pipe is expanded, at the same instant of which multiple lengths of grooves 10 are engraved by the protruding flights 5 in the internal surface of the pipe. As the steel pipe 1 is expanded further, the steel pipe 1 is press-fitted into the holes 8 formed to the fins 2.
