Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve absolute dry impact resistance of a polyamide by melt blending a mixture comprising a carboxyl group-containing aliphatic diene type polymer, an unsaturated carboxylate and a radical initiator to the polyamide.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. of a polyamide and 5W50pts.wt. of a mixture comprising 100pts.wt. of a carboxyl group-containing aliphatic diene type polymer, 5W 20pts.wt. of an unsaturated carboxylate of a group IWIII metal of the Periodic Table and 0.1W5pts.wt. of a radical initiator are melted and blended. If the quantity of the above described mixture is lower than the above described lower limit quantity, the absolute dry impact resistance of the obtained composition is low and, if more than the above described upper limit quantity, the native physical properties of the obtained polyamide composition are lowered. An unsaturated carboxylate to be used is, pref., a salt of an unsaturated carboxylic acid such as methacrylic acid with a metal such as Na, K, Cu or Mg.
