Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the mechanical strength, corrosion resistance and thermal resistance of a commutator by subjecting lead portions of armature coils and segments of a commutator to ultrasonic welding, and thereafter subjecting the resulting welded zones to insulation treatment with a powdered high molecular resin. CONSTITUTION:Lead portions 3a of armature coils 3 are welded with ultrasonic waves to segments 7 of a commtator 4 unified with a molded material 6. The resulting welded zones are subjected to molding treatment in which the welded zones are coated with a powdered high molecular resin 14. Thus, the strength of the commutator, which has been damaged or broken by heat during the ultrasonic welding operation, can be improved. Moreover, the mechanical strength, corrosion resistance and thermal resistance of the commutator can be improved.
