Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a miniaturized and cheap oxygen-manufacturing process capable of adsorbing oxygen preferentially by using as an oxygen adsorbent a Y-type zeolite whose cation is exchanged with divalent copper ion.
CONSTITUTION: A Y-type zeolite included with faujasite by mineralogical classification is treated with a divalent copper salt solution of exchanging an exchangeable cation present in the zeolite with the divalent copper ion in order to obtain a Cu(II)- Y-type zeolite. Because the Cu(II)-Y-type zeolite thus obtained can adsorb irreversibly and preferentially oxygen from nitrogen-containing oxygen gas under isothermal condition, the cost of manufacturing oxygen can be reduced and the apparatus for manufacturing oxygen can be miniaturized.
