Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the power consumption for stirring operation by limiting buffle position and finger length in a tank. CONSTITUTION:A stirrer blade 1 is installed at the bottom part of a tank. At a position higher than the half of a cylindrical tank height H, is placed buffles 2 having finger 3 whose length is defined b, including the diameter of a buffle shaft. The fingered baffles are placed so that the leading edge of the fingers stay below either of stationary liquid face 4 and moving surface 5 in the case of agitation by the stirrer blade 1 by a driver. The ratio of the finger length b to the tank diameter D is defined to 0.15-0.38. This design reduces power needed for agitation and deposition of polymer.
