Abstract

1385358 Aerating agitating and circulating liquids GIREJAN 22 March 1972 [22 March 1971 15 Dec 1971] 13348/72 Heading B1C Apparatus for aerating water comprises a circulation channel 1 with a surface aerating rotor 3 having impeller blades 9 arranged in at least one helical path around it. The waterimpelling part of each block is transverse to the helix and the blades on each helix are closer to each other than to those on the next helix or turn of the same helix. The rotor may be parallel or angled to the flow path in the channel. As shown in Fig. 1 the helix has two starts; the blades may be separate or mounted on or integral with a helical strip (see Figs. 6-9, not shown). The rotor may be located in a venturi flame 10; in other arrangements there may be more than one rotor arranged in parallel or tandem (see Figs. 4 and 5, not shown). The rotor may be driven by a motor 6; or supported by floats and/or located by the currents of e.g. a river (see Fig. 15, not shown). In arrangements in which the rotor axis makes an acute angle with the flow path, the blades may be mounted on a continuous screw flight (18, Fig. 11, not shown) and the blades and helix angles arranged to produce a resultant thrust in the general direction of flow through the apparatus. Angled rotors may be mounted on a central wall 19, the blades being arranged in heelices of the same hand driven in opposite senses, or of opposite hand and driven in the same sense.
