Abstract
PURPOSE: To allow a single equipment to perform a continous operation in a filter filled with filter-sand by installing a mechanism to discharge dirty sand to the outside of tank, continuously clean it, and return it to cleaned-sand hopper.
CONSTITUTION: Raw water contg. fine particles is guided by a pump 34 from a raw water tank 33 to a water distribution plate 29 in a filter tower 21. The raw water is uniformly and horizontally distributed in the tower 21 and uprises through filter sand 22, allowing fine particles to be trapped by sand 22 from water. Filtered water is passed through discharge pipe 24 and stored in filtered-water tank 35. The filter sand having trapped particles moves downward through lower rotary valve 27 and is supplied to sand cleaner 31 via dirty-sand discharge pipe 28. Cleaned sand is sent by charge-conveyor 32 to washed-sand hopper 26, is charged by top rotary valve 25 into the filter tower 21, and discharged uniformly and horizontally by sand distribution plate 30. Sand-washed waste water is passed through waste-pipe 36 and is stored in waste-water pit 37.
