Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a receptor having a photoconductive layer with high durability by providing an inclination in thickness to edge portions of a vacuum-deposited layer to enhance the adherence between a substrate and the deposited portion in formation of the photoconductive layer.
CONSTITUTION: Prior to vacuum deposition inclined protective plates 7 are formed on end portions of substrate 1 for vacuum deposition. Plates 7 are generally used and made of stainless steel or the like. Inclination angle θ of plates 7 is suitably selected according to the purpose of the resulting photoconductive layer, and for example, it is adjusted to 10W45°, preferably about 30°. Thus, a photoconductive layer having high adherence and free from exfoliation can be obtd. in formation of the layer by vacuum deposition.
