Abstract

PURPOSE: To render a selenium layer hardly scratchable, and durable, by dispersing into the surface layer of a photosensitive amorphous selenium layer the powder or fiber of a substance higher in hardness than selenium and nonreactive with selenium.
CONSTITUTION: Amorphous selenium layer 3 is formed by vapor depositing selenium on substrate 2 of aluminum alloy or the like in vacuo. Fiber 4 higher in hardness than selenium, such as alumina fiber is attached by coating or the like, and selenium is again vapor deposited to form electrophotographic photoreceptor 1 with alumina fiber 4 dispersed in the surface layer. Fiber 4 or the powder is below 10μm in size and added preferably in an amount of 1W10vol% based on selenium, thus permitting layer 3 to be hardly scratchable when developer 6 attached to layer 3 is transferred to recording paper 5, and durability of the photoreceptor to be enhanced.
