Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce various fluid noises produced by a pump or the like and also noises due to mechanical vibration that is produced during operation of the pump, by forming a number of pleats along the length of an outer sleeve.
CONSTITUTION: Fluid discharged from a hydraulic machine such as pump is at first introduced from inlet port 5 into chamber A located on the left side of partition wall 6. When the fluid is diffused in chamber A, it comes into contact with and reflected off the rugged wall surfaces 2 of chamber A, so that pulsation of pressure is attenuated through interference or interaction of fluid. Then, fluid enters into connecting pipe 7. Here, a hole 8 formed in the connecting pipe 7 at its inlet portion serves to absrob pressure wave in chamber A by the function of resonance, so that pulsation of pressure is further attenuated. After passing through the connecting pipe 7, fluid enters chamber B and diffused therein, so that pulsation of pressure is attenuated again through interaction. Here, the phase of pressure wave is inverted 180 degrees by the function of another hole 8', and pulsation of pressure is attenuated through interaction of fluid coming into contact with and reflected off the rugged wall surfaces 2 of chamber B.
