Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the light deflector by a rotary mirror which permits the correction of the angle of inclination by detecting the perpendicular position errors owing to the angle of inclination of the rotary mirror by using a photodetector having an optical mask or slit and driving a vertical deflecting system. CONSTITUTION:The photodetecting portion of a photodetector 7 having an optical mask is mounted outside the effective display range of a screen 2 at the scanning start side end of the screen 2. The optical mask 11 being the photodetecting portion of the photodetector 7 is provided with a triangular window shown by ABC, which is so disposed that the side AB becomes perpendicular to the scanning direction of a laser beam 3 and the side BC becomes oblique. As a result of this, the output of the photodetector 12 which performs photoelectric conversion provides the signals of different pulse widths such as a, b, c owing to the perpendicular position luctuations of the laser beam 3. Since the increment of the pulse width is proportional to the perpendicular position fluctuation components, the perpendicular fluctuations, i.e., the angle of inclination of the rotary mirror may be corrected by processing these signals.
