Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a small-sized and cheap printing device having superior reliability, durability and stability characteristics by a method wherein a recording paper itself wound in a roll form is moved and applied to a printing operation without using any platens or hammers.

CONSTITUTION: Both a shaft 14 and a printing wheel 11 frictionally engaged with the shaft are rotated by a starting operation of the motor. The printing wheel 11 is selected by a selector mechanism and a ratchet 13 when a character 12 to be printed is reached at the opposing position for a recording paper 21, and its engagement with the shaft 14 is released and then the printing wheel is stopped. A printing cam 15 fixed to the shaft 14 is further rotated with the shaft and stopped when a recessed part 15a is positioned at the opposing position of the recording paper. The wound recording paper 21 is abutted against the printing cam 15a via a mask 20 made of a resilient material, when the recessed part 15 is approached there, the recording paper is moved along the guiding recess of a side plate 23, and abutted against the character 12 to make a printing. The recording paper printed is moved away from the character under an action of the printing cam and then fed by a paper feeding lever 17.
