Abstract

CONSTITUTION: In an intake cycle of an engine, an intake valve 19 opens and the air, which has been introduced into an air cleaner box 6 through an intake pipe 31 and air cleaner element 29, is mixed in a predetermined proportion with fuel into a fuel-air mixture, which is then sucked into a combustion chamber 15 and is ignited to burn there. A piston 13 descends and an exhaust valve 17 opens. Combustion gas is discharged into an exhaust conduit 16. When a negative pressure in the combustion chamber 15 reaches the exhaust conduit 16, a check valve 27 opens and air in the air cleaner box 6 is taken into the exhaust conduit 16 through a secondary air conduit 22. A part of said air sucked in the exhaust conduit 16 travels to the combustion chamber 15 and, in an intake cycle, is mixed with fuel-air mixture, thereby to assit the vaporization of the fuel and to achieve a complete combustion thereof.
