Abstract

PURPOSE: To completely remove vanadic acid ion, by a method wherein a water- insoluble barium compound is added to waste water containing vanadic acid ion and the formed insoluble precipitate is filtered.
CONSTITUTION: To the waste water containing a vanadium compound (present as vanadic acid ion) dischanged from a catalyst producing factory or a wet waste gas desulfurizing apparatus, a barium compound is added to form a water-insoluble precipitate and, by filtering said precipitate, vanadic acid is removed. As the barium compound, any water-soluble barium compound may be used. Examples are barium hydroxide, barium chloride, barium sulfide, and barium hydrosulfide.
