Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the occurrence of welding defects owing to the disturbance of arc by supplying pulse currents alternately to a pair of consumable electrodes positioned in the narrow groove.
CONSTITUTION: When two or more MIG-welding consumable electrodes 4, 5 are disposed for width direction through a nozzle 3 into the narrow groove 2 between thick-walled base metals 1, 1' and pulse currents are flowed alternately to the respective electrodes, arcs 4' are formed alternately, by which the occurrence of magnetic blow phenomenon is obviated. Hence, the penetration of molten metal pool 6 becomes even and the efficiency of the narrow groove welding by multiple electrodes is considerably improved.
