Abstract
PURPOSE: To make it possible to eliminate sensitivity difference and discriminate inner and outer surface flaws by setting the reflected echoes of the inner surface and outer surface of a steel pipe on separate gates and by adopting pulse DAC (pulse distance amplitude correction).
CONSTITUTION: The supersonic wave from probe 1 enters the thickness of steel pipe 3 diagonally and is reracted, and it is reflected by inner surface ID and outer surface OD and continues propagation. Reflected echo 4 of an inner flaw and reflected echo 5 of an outer flaw are displayed on a cathode-ray tube. At this time, by setting separate gates, inner surface flaw gate G2 and outer surface flaw gate G3, whether it is an inner surface flaw or an outer surface flaw is discriminated. Consequently, discrimination is easily operated, and at the same time, by adopting pulse dact to eliminate sensitivity difference, a signal that has entered the outer surface flaw gate can be corrected electrically and adjusted to the same level as the signal of the inner surface flaw gate, so that accurate detection can be operated.
