Abstract

PURPOSE: To facilitate the removal of noncondensable gases by a method wherein a heat pipe group is placed in a low-temperature gas flow, a lower header for the heat pipes is connected to an upper header for evporation pipes and to a lower header for condensation pipes, and an upper header for the heat pipes is connected to a noncondensablegas accumulator.
CONSTITUTION: With noncondensable gases collected in an upper header 12b for a heat pipe group 12 and in a gas accumulator 17, the temperature difference between the header 12b and the accumulator 17 is decreased, and signals from temperature signaling means 20b, 20a are transmitted to a control box 18. The gases in the accumulator 17 is fed to a gas analyzer 19, and concentration of noncondensable gases is measured; when the measured concentration is higher than 1,000ppm, a signal is fed to the control box 18. These signals 21a, 21b, 22 are compared with memorized data, a valve 16a is closed, a valve 16b opened, and the gases in the accumulator 17 is sucked out. Thus, the noncondensable gases are extracted through heat pipe group together with an adequate amount of the vapor of a working liquid, and automatically removed, and heat transfer is made efficient.
