Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve accurate measurement of oil content of oil containing mineral by trapping oil and water condensed with the cooling of a gaseous product generated by thermal separation in which the oil containing mineral is heated. CONSTITUTION:A sample 1 is placed in a sample container 2 and then a retort 3 is sealed up. N2 gas is supplied to the retort 3 through a gas purge tube 7 to replace air in a pipeline. Then, a cooler 16 is actuated to pass a cooling fluid through a cooling tank 12 and a cooling tube 13 and then, a heating furnace 4 starts to raise the temperature. A product thermally separated is generated by a thermal decomposition and the gases thus generated is introduced to a centrifugal sedimentation tube 11 through a take of tube 9. In the sedimenattion tube 11, which is housed in the cooling tank 12, oil and water in the gas generated are condensed and accumulated while other gas are discharged from a gas release tube 15. After the end of the heating for a specified time, the sedimentation tube 11 is taken out and placed in a centrifugal separator to separate oil and water thereby measuring the oil content in an oil containing mineral.
