Abstract

PURPOSE: To promote the separation efficiency in a screw compressor by providing a runner using the rotatory power of a rotor and using its centrifugal force to separate oil from gas with a large difference of specific gravities.
CONSTITUTION: The refrigerant gas compressed by the compressing work based on the engaging rotation of both rotors 4 and 5 is mixed with injected oil, and discharged near to a runner 19 in a primary chamber 15 through a discharge port 13. Between mixed currents flowing into both passages 20 and 21 in the runner 19, the one of oil with a larger specific gravity is scattered outward radially from the passage 21 into the primary chamber 15 by the centrifugal force caused by the rotation of the runner 19 as resisting against the current of gas, and dropped to an oil reserving part 15' below to maintain an oil surface. The other of gas with a smaller specific gravity, since the sentrifugal force given by the runner 19 is very small, is issured into a secondary chamber 16 via a radial passage 20 as concentrating to the central part of the runner 19, and discharged into a refrigerant cycle through a discharge port 12.
